Introduction
On February 19, 1942, President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed and issued executive order 9066, authorizing the Secretary of War to prescribe certain areas as military zones. Eventually, the order cleared way for the deportation of Japanese American to internment camps. The order was spurred by a combination of war hysteria and reactions to the bombing of Pearl Harbor.
